"Re-imagining our economy"

What does it really mean?
When leftists talk about "re-imagining our economy" in the context of city planning and transformation, what do they mean?

Moving Away from Market-Only Logic...
Instead of letting private developers and market forces dictate urban growth, re-imagining means considering housing, transport, and services as public goods.
For example: supporting non-profit housing, community land trusts, or rent controls.
[This means Socialism at ratepayer and taxpayer expense]
Prioritizing Sustainability...
Restructuring economies to reduce dependence on cars, fossil fuels, and sprawl.
Building “15-minute cities,” where most daily needs can be met within a short walk or bike ride.
Why non-profit housing...
The point of non-profit housing is to remove housing from the speculative market cycle (boom → bust → displacement) and make it a long-term public good, like libraries or schools.
So, instead of being driven by investor demand, non-profit housing is driven by:
community needs,
affordability goals, and
long-term stability.
Sounds great (on the surface)!
However, after the taste of government welfare and restrictions of 2020-2022, we have learnt that in order to survive without loss of benefit from this system you must toe the line of government dictates, whether this means submitting to ideological control, medical interventions (for the collective good), and any government imposed-restrictions on movement or purchases related to “official” climate or “carbon” dictates.
How much do you value your freedom?
