"Freedom Village - The Story of the 2022 New Zealand Convoy & Freedom Village camp in Parliament grounds"

Freeman & Grey, 43 Ponsonby Rd, Auckland

Rock The Vote NZ are proud to host the Auckland book launch of "Freedom Village - The Story of the 2022 New Zealand Convoy & Freedom Village camp in Parliament grounds" by Alan Simmons and Sue Grey.

"Freedom Village" is the people's story of the controversial 2022 occupation of the NZ Parliament grounds. It's a confronting story of hope, courage, collaboration and determination in the face of abuse of State power. People united to claim freedom from Government overreach. They soon learnt that the real battle line was for control of information and for the public mind and mood.

Alan Simmons and Sue Grey were there from the beginning and record this historic event revealing shocking information many would prefer to keep hidden.

Some people will find the book confronting as it lifts the lid on much of what was happening behind the scenes within the Village and Government as the Labour government tried to keep a lid on the narrative. This book will serve as an enduring record of one of the great protest events in NZ history.

"I started writing this book in early January, dedicating every waking hour to it and with the amazing and dedicated help of co-author Sue Grey and lots of other contributors I believe we have an amazing story to tell." - Alan Simmons

Rock The Vote NZ are pleased to present Nathan Seiuli from the Free Speech Union (FSU), who will speak about what FSU is, what they do, what free speech is, the proposed Hate Speech Laws, what constitutes "hate speech", and why FSU see free speech as the foundation of a thriving society.

The Free Speech Union's goal is to defend and promote the free exchange of information and to educate people of the importance of free speech in New Zealand.

The FSU says "a new form of censorship has emerged which has confounded the traditional division between the public and private spheres. There is a reccurring pattern to this censorship. It begins with a post online, often on social media but not always. This post is then taken to the employer of the person who posted it, and is used as the basis of a claim that the person responsible for the post should lose their job, usually under spurious "health and safety" grounds. These claims are often made by anonymous individuals or groups. They amplify the media surrounding the complaint, to put pressure on the employer to fire the offender.

"People have lost jobs, friends, careers and livelihoods because their publicly-expressed thoughts or opinions were used against them in this manner. Having a supportive community and access to reliable, impartial advice can make a life-changing difference for people who find themselves ostracised and potentially out of work because of nothing more than an expression of their democratic rights to speak freely.

"In order to stand up to this pernicious but non-state censorship, the Free Speech Union incorporated as a registered trade union in 2021. The Union is empowered to provide its members with advocacy support if they become a target for non-government censorship, along with producing media, campaigning against bad laws, and hosting events."

Irene Chain, midwife, author, educator, on being prosecuted / persecuted by the NZ Midwifery Council

Irene Chain Kalinowski has had a distinguished career spanning over 42 years as a Nurse/Midwife, Homeopath, international speaker, author, and visiting professor, across continents including the UK, the Middle East, China and Australasia.

Irene will be speaking about the punitive and bullying practices within the healthcare system that she has personally experienced. Her ethical stance against endorsing the experimental mRNA vaccine and her vocal opposition to coercive measures and ethical breaches set her on a collision course with regulatory authorities.

By raising concerns about the potential risks posed by the Covid-19 vaccine mandate and advocating for informed consent, Irene faced suspension and unfounded allegations orchestrated to undermine her credibility and advocacy efforts.

In a bold move to defend her principles and challenge the unjust actions taken against her, Irene took the NZ Midwifery Council to the High Court in February 2023. Concurrently, the Ministry of Health initiated legal proceedings against her in the Criminal Court, escalating the legal battle and underscoring the gravity of the ethical stand she had taken.

Irene has spent her entire life preserving life and now finds herself deemed a criminal by the Ministry of Health and NZ Midwifery Council. As Irene continues her advocacy journey, standing firm in the face of adversity and unwavering in her commitment to ethical healthcare practices, her story resonates as a testament to the enduring power of integrity, resilience, and advocacy.

In response to the escalating legal battles and ethical challenges faced by Irene, an international investigation team in LandsAirWater Council was established to delve into the circumstances surrounding her advocacy, suspension, and the broader implications for ethical healthcare practices.

Tracy Lynch from LandsAirWater Council will be speaking about the investigation team's thorough inquiry, and will present evidence to shed light on the situation revealing perjury and forged documents.

Don't miss this amazing opportunity to hear about their journey!
